Pied BUSH CHAT

Pied bush chat is a small bird, male is black and female is brown in colour.
Scientific name  : Saxicola caprata

 Male is a black bird with white colour under the tail. short beak, feeds on insects.

Black Winged Stilt

Beautiful bird with vibrant colours. It is  white bird with a long black bill, black wings. It’s legs are  long thin and pink in colour. Male have more black on head and neck than females but this distinction is not so clear. I shot this near the small water collection following a rain near my house.

White and White - Flowers

Flowers are natures best pieces of art. Here are few pictures i shot with some description.

There was a water body collected just beside my house when it was under construction. These grew in that water body. nice white elegant flowers. shot with Sony DSC-H50.  Scientific name: Nymphaea alba.

Water Lilly 

These flowers are very tiny around 5mm in size. I shot them with a closeup filter on Nikkor35mm1.8G. These are white flowers and have a yellow center. look beautiful .. arent they?

Longshot just to show the size of flowers - Tiny

This is a well known species but rather rare to see. I have seen this flower for the first time , inspite of being the common commodity we daily use. Its flower of Onion. This flower is a part of Globular infloresecence (bunch of flowers) buds in the background. What do you say? isnt it good...!

Little Egret

Little Egret is a bird from egret family looks very similar to cattle egret but with difference of the colour of beak and legs. You can clearly see the black coloured beak and black coloured legs with green claws.

Red Vented Bulbul

Red Vented Bulbul  is medium sized bird with Black , square shaped head. scaly brown body and Red coloured vent. These are fairly common birds.

Cattle Egret

CATTLE EGRET

Cattle Egret is a large bright white bird with long neck and long beak and long legs. Almost always accompany the cattle. Its symbiosis between cattle and these birds. The above picture shows a breeding plumage the light brown colour on the neck and back. The picture below shows the bright white non-breeding plumage.

Purple SUNBIRD

 PURPLE SUNBIRD

Purple sunbird is small bird, feeds on flower nectar. Male looks like black coloured and has purple shimmer over head and neck when exposed to sunlight. It has long curved beak for sucking nectar from the flowers.

Green bee Eater

Small, slender and swift  bird with bright green colour body, blue under the chin and throat, black slender beak. Usually seen in pairs. Bird flies and catches the insects in air with ease with aerial acrobatics.

Large Birds

Open Billed Stork (adult)

Large bird peculiar opening in the long bill. Juveniles dont have the opening in their bills. Its a Large light brown coloured bird with black wings.

Its a small bird with bright colours , perching from bush to bush. Olive green upperparts and creamy under parts , it has a  rusty colour on head. Popular for its nest made of leaves "sewn" together, as name suggests.
